The blockiness noted by another here is very likely resident in the source, no making of multipass transcoding is likely to improve it, only further complicates this great little app, and adds hours and hours to troubleshooting efforts. Given the "source" from which we're talking here about creating PS3 playable files, they are already SO compressed the chances of you noticing any REAL difference between mkv2vob outputting mpeg-2 versus avc are very small.

Mp4 and derivative codecs WILL, from the same source, provide a higher "quality" given the same bitrate and/or file size. Its just one post made it seem like the quality was in order of slowest to fastest making mpeg-2 the worst quality transcode output option in that theory but I thought that wasn't neccesarily true and now verified. I hope you will continue the great support. Thanks once more for a brilliant program. Just an idea which I think would make a neat addition :) (which would also probably enable you to add a "kill" option to stop decoding). Therefore, my idea is to add a thread priority setting in mkv2vob and launch all tools in threads set accordingly. It's possible to go in and give the various applications lower priority in the Windows task manager, but if you have a batch of files this needs to be done for every process which is started by mkv2vob. It pretty much freezes the whole computer, and in my case, makes my dedicated file/UPnP/transcoding box go down on its knees. Now, when transcoding, approximately 100% CPU time is taken by the various tools which are run if you have a mediocre computer like I do. I have a feature request which I personally believe would be an improvement to many of us. I'm too lazy to do all the necessary steps manually, so finally there is a tool which enables me to stream HD thru my PS3 and UPnP server (Twonky) without much hazzle at all.

3r1c, first of all thanks for this excellent little program.
